It was in the year 2006 that Rang De Basanti, one of Hindi
cinema's most cherished films, had released.
Written, produced and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra,
the film co-starred ensemble cast comprising Aamir Khan,
Siddharth Narayan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Madhavan,
Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni and Alice Patten in the lead roles.
The film had its share of controversies before its release, but post,
the youth of the nation couldn't help but be in absolute of the cinematic masterpiece.
During the release, the nation itself was going through a lot - from
corruption scandals being exposed to rapid
radicalisation of thoughts. Rang De Basanti,
in many ways, changed the face of revolution and more
importantly, ended up revolutionising the protests.
14 years on, the film continues to be one of the most talked-about,
celebrated and regarded films of all time.
It not only resonated with the audience at the time but continues to do
so years after its theatrical release.
Making a case for something bigger than one's selfish existence,
Rang De Basanti can certainly fill one's heart with pride and make
one bask in the myriad colours of patriotism, or rather, modern patriotism so to say.
The film boasted of not just powerful performances from each of its cast members,
but also impeccable direction and spectacular writing leading the front.
